The Heart Behind the Ella Rose Cahill Legacy Foundation

The Ella Rose Cahill Legacy Foundation was created in loving honor of a remarkable young woman whose life radiated joy, kindness, compassion, and quiet strength. Born on March 16, 2004, Ella had a selfless heart, a warm and unforgettable smile, and a natural ability to make others feel seen, comforted, and loved.

Born and raised in Beaumont, Texas, Ella attended St. Anne Catholic School and later graduated from Kelly High School, where she excelled academically and athletically as a softball player and formed friendships that would last a lifetime. She continued her education at the University of Texas at San Antonio, where she was posthumously awarded her degree in Business Administration. Whether encouraging a teammate, mentoring a peer, comforting a friend, or simply offering kindness to someone who needed it, Ella had a quiet way of making the world around her better.

Ella also shared a deep and enduring bond with her high school sweetheart, Aidan Heartfield. Their relationship began during their sophomore year of high school and grew alongside them as they entered adulthood. Together, they shared friendships, adventures, faith, service, and dreams for the future—including mission work in Guatemala that would later help inspire one of the Foundation’s three areas of service.

On July 4, 2025, Ella Rose was among the 136 lives tragically lost during the catastrophic flooding in the Texas Hill Country. In a matter of hours, the lives of so many families and communities were forever changed. The days that followed brought an unimaginable search for answers and revealed firsthand the extraordinary dedication of search-and-rescue professionals, volunteers, K-9 teams, and countless individuals who gave their time, skills, and hearts to families experiencing the unthinkable.

While the circumstances of Ella’s passing are forever part of her story, they are not the story of her life.

Her story is one of love.

It is one of friendship, faith, laughter, service, determination, and a heart that cared deeply for others. And from that life—and from the profound experiences surrounding her loss—the Ella Rose Cahill Legacy Foundation was born.

The Foundation exists not simply to remember Ella, but to allow the way she lived to continue creating good in the world.

What began with one extraordinary life continues through every life we are privileged to touch. Our foundation was created to honor the legacy of Ella Rose Cahill, a woman whose compassion and service inspired a path of hope and dignity for generations to come.

Through our three distinct areas of service—education, search and rescue, and international mission work—we seek to create meaningful change in the lives of others. We believe that love is put into action every time we extend hope to those in need.
